Autumn Silhouette

I love stitching over-one...but I don't think I could ever do a really large piece that way! The details just come out so very beautifully and (as an extra side benefit) framing costs are less! LOL!

This is Blackbird Designs Loose Feathers #10: Autumn Silhouette. I chose a darker linen with a cream-toned hand-dyed floss. I had to adapt the acorns that were done in a satin stitch, and I loved the way it turned out. I did this same design in a green over two on a much lighter linen, but the over-one is by far my favorite. Including the frame, this measures 6 3/4" x 5 3/4".

This is lovely as are your pieces from the fair. Congrats on the wins! Is there a secret to working over one on linen? I have tried it on evenweave and have a small project started that I need to get back to, but I have never been successful on linen. the stitches seem to drop down in the fabric even thought I alwasy start tot he left of a vertical thread. If you have good secrets, please post them!

Hello! I just discovered your blog! I love your current finish and congratulations on your prize winning pieces from the fair--just lovely :)

I just stitched my first "over one" piece last month and loved it. The final result is so delicate looking and as you say, you can save so much on materials and framing.

Hey Kim, thanks for you comments on my blog about stitching over 1...i had heard taht you have to stich a different way, but I tried doing it hat way and it looked funny to me. Myabe I'll try again, only with 32 count so the stitches don't look like they are falling in a well. If I don't go blind first...LOL

Love it. I have done a few over one projects. This one is so dainty. I don't think I could ever do a large over one project.
